About the Doctor
Dr. Thompson was born in Santa Paula, CA in 1960. Later that year, his family moved to Goleta, CA where they lived until late 1969. His father was a commercial deep sea diver who worked primarily in the oil industry and the family moved to Morgan City, LA to be near his father's work. After three years in Louisiana, the family moved to Perth, Australia for one year and then to Singapore the next year. Another move followed to Aberdeen, Scotland, where Dr. Thompson graduated from high school at the American School of Aberdeen, in 1977 at the age of 17.Upon returning to the States, he attended San Diego State University from 1977 until 1981 and graduated with a B.S.degree in Biology in 1981. Dr. Thompson then attended University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 1985. He has practiced in Santa Barbara, CA as a solo practitioner since that time.
Dr. Thompson is a former member of Board of the Santa Barbara - Ventura County Dental Society, and served as the Director of Area A, which includes Santa Barbara and Carpinteria area dentists. He is also a former member of the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Dr. Thompson is also a member of the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association, as well as a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Dental Organization for Concious Sedation and the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). He is also an Associate Fellow in the World Clinical Laser Institute.
Dr. Thompson is a member and Past President of the Goleta Lions Club. He is also currently on the Board of Directors of the Men's Golf Committee at Montecito Country Club. He is a former member of the Santa Barbara Sunrise Rotary Club.
Dr. Thompson has been married to his wife, Carolina, since 1988. They have a daughter, Cameron Anne, who was born in 1995 and currently attends Marymount School in Santa Barbara. Their family also includes two yellow Labrador Retrievers and one cat. Dr. Thompson's hobbies include golf, fishing, scuba diving, traveling, and almost anything else that gets him outdoors.
Dr. Thompson continues his education with many ongoing certifications in such fields as sedation dentistry, orthodontics, laser dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and CAD/CAM dentistry.
